<div>On August 20, 2025, our beloved Ricardo, “Ricky,” Cruz was on his way to pick up his brother from high school just like he has always done. Regrettably, on his way there, he was tragically struck by a drunk driver. Ricky’s vehicle was destroyed. When paramedics and rescue arrived, special equipment was used to pull Ricky out of his vehicle. Ricky was found unable to breathe, seizing, and was transported in a coma to Palomar Hospital. Ricky remains in critical condition with severe trauma throughout his head and in a state of unconsciousness. It is unknown if and when Ricky will regain consciousness. For the moment, Ricky is on a ventilator assisting him to breathe and many more medical interventions are being done.

<div>Ricky is a 22-year-old avid soccer player and fanatic who played for San Marcos Revolution, a community volunteer, active member at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, graduate of Mission Hills High School, and a college student at Cal State University San Marcos. He always has a smile on his face and is a giving and caring soul who loves dogs. He works as a dog sitter, washes cars, and helps his mom clean homes. Ricky is very loved by his family and friends. We are all devastated.

<div>El 20 de agosto de 2025, nuestro querido Ricardo, "Ricky," Cruz, se dirigía a recoger a su hermano de la preparatoria, como siempre lo ha hecho. Lamentablemente, en el camino, fue trágicamente chocado por un conductor ebrio. El vehículo de Ricky quedó destrozado. Cuando llegaron los paramédicos y los rescatistas, utilizaron equipo especial para sacar a Ricky de su vehículo. Ricky fue encontrado sin poder respirar, con convulsiones, y fue trasladado en coma al Hospital Palomar. Ricky permanece en estado crítico con un trauma severo en su cabeza y en estado de inconsciencia. Se desconoce si Ricky recuperará el conocimiento y cuándo. Por el momento, Ricky está conectado a un respirador artificial que lo asiste para respirar y se le están realizando muchas más intervenciones médicas.
