<div>Rick, a devoted husband, caring father, and incredible papa, has been with his wife Lisa for 43 years, since they were 16 and 14. He’s a hard worker who’s always provided for his family.

<div>Unexpectedly, in 2016, Rick was diagnosed with an AVM, which required a week in the hospital. The AVM was deemed inoperable, and he’s remained symptom-free for the past nine and a half years. However, on Monday, November 16th, he experienced a traumatic brain bleed within the AVM. He was transported by ambulance to Wentworth Douglas Hospital and subsequently airlifted to Mass General.

<div>Currently, the bleed is stable, neither improving nor worsening. Unfortunately, the location of the trauma has left him unable to speak and has resulted in the loss of use of his right hand. As of now, a definitive treatment plan has not been established. Even with treatment, there’s no guarantee that he’ll fully recover from these losses. He’ll likely require months of rehabilitation and may need assistance with his daily activities.

<div>As most of you know, Rick is a skilled carpenter who has dedicated his life to this profession. The inability to work will undoubtedly be a significant financial challenge for him and his family. We’re asking for any help you can provide to his family. His wife Lisa is unable to work at this time due to the severity of Rick’s injury. Lisa has a 2 hour commute one way and wants to be with him as much as possible. Any donations would go towards the coverage of travel expenses, medical bills and financial bills. This is going to be a long road for Rick and his family, and any help you can provide at this time is greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

<div>It’s been two weeks since Rick was airlifted to Mass General due to a stroke. His wife, daughters and granddaughter’s have been by his side throughout this ordeal. He’s now been transferred to a neurological rehabilitation center in Portsmouth, which is closer to his family.

<div>   Unfortunately, Rick still lacks mobility in the right side of his body. The stroke has also caused him aphasia, making it difficult for him to understand language and produce speech. Despite these challenges, Rick has been diligently working with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. When he returns home, he’ll require 24/7 care. Given the level of care he’ll need, Lisa has been left to handle the repairs and alterations to their house, which Rick would typically do himself. Having a safe and accessible home is crucial for Rick’s recovery. Lisa will be his primary caregiver, leaving her unable to work.
