Rickey’s story is as follows:

In January 2017 Rickey had a mass removed from his neck; the mass was attached to his carotid artery (that portion had to be left intact).  The mass tested positive for Squamous Cell Carcinoma (Cancer).  Rickey had a PET scan in February 2017, which showed a mass under his tongue at the base of his throat, which was removed surgically and was confirmed malignant.

Rickey began treatment for head and neck cancer at the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas, Texas in March 2017 and endured 9 weeks of chemo and 35 straight days of radiation.  Rickey was able to recover for three months and additional testing showed the cancer in his neck was gone, but had moved into his bones. The cancer is now Stage 4 and on his legs, ribs, shoulders, spine and his hips.  Rickey has begun a new treatment Sept 2017 at the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center, where he will undergo Immunotherapy for an undetermined amount of time.

Rickey has served the public for over 30 years, 4 years with the United States Marine Corps and over 27 years in law enforcement.  Rickey is currently working for the Grayson County Sheriff Office (25 years) where he serves as Captain over the Enforcement Bureau.

Rickey is married and has two young boys ages 5 and 3.  He has served on several non-profit boards in his community; Grayson County Crisis Center, Grayson County Children’s Advocacy Center, The Mentor Program with Sherman ISD, and the House of Eli.  Rickey’s wife serves on several non-profit boards as well.

As law enforcement officers we are a family, and we come together to support one of ours when they are in need. There are times when there is a need for more, and today Rickey’s law enforcement family is asking your support in helping Rickey’s family in this fight against cancer.

All donations will go towards assisting with Rickey’s treatment cost, travel expenses, and the well-being of his family in this stressful time in their lives.

Thank you for your support in this cause that means so much to us all!!
