Support Richard's journey to fight POEMS Syndrome

Richard is a devoted husband and father. He has 3 beautiful daughters ages 22, 15 and 12. He is also about the be a first time grandpa. Richard loves to play soccer, golf, Sunday night cookouts with his friends and family is one of his favorite things to do. What he loves the most is to coach his daughter in soccer. That all came to a sudden stop March of 2022, Richard began to feel different, loss of feeling in his feet that would come and go. By May 2022, it was easier to walk around with a cane and then in August 2022 moving from one place to another was quicker and safer in a wheelchair. With constant calls into doctors, a drive to Phoenix to meet with a specialist when he began to lose movement in his hands and finally an overnight stay at the hospital with a doctor who knew what to look for; there were answers. Rich was diagnosed with CIPD. Over the last year the loss of muscle mass, additional therapies and multiple intravenous medications has brought him to where we are today. Richard, Melissa and the girls have been enduring and working through this situation since March of 2022 and have never asked for anything. Last month another diagnosis, POEMS (incurable disease), added chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to the near future. Rich and Melissa will be making their way to the Mayo Hospital in Phoenix to begin the process of a bone marrow transplant next week. It is our turn, we can help them secure residency to ease that burden and help with additional unforeseen financial needs as they live away from home over the next 6-7 weeks away from their girls.
