42.2kms for the heart foundation!

Donation protected
On Nov 4th, I'm hoping to complete the NY Marathon... but before I do, I need a little bit of help.

See, I have been training for the last 9 months... but have been too focussed on ensuring that I can complete the 42.2km's, that I have forgotten I need to raise $3500 (eek) for the Heart Foundation to be able to do it.

And for every $15 you get to choose 1mins of music for my playlist while I run the marathon! ($50 =~1 song).
As strange as this may sound: any song you choose will be inspiring for me.

Why am I running a marathon and raising money for the heart foundation?

Well, the short answer is:
5 years ago I had heart failure... And getting back fit and healthy has been a big goal of mine.

But here's the long answer:

Carpe-diem -- I've gotta say that lying in a hospital bed in the middle of Tanzania with no idea what just happened to my body and whether the issue is life-threatening has given me a directive to live life to the full and make the most of every minute of every day.

Be healthy -- Not long after this episode, my family Dr told me I have really bad cholesterol numbers (unrelated to the heart failure). I had no choice but to find a regular exercise that counteracted the cholesterol build up in my blood.

Be the dad I want to be -- It's a combination of the above:
1) I want to be healthy and interactive with my kids is important. Events could have unfolded differently in Tanzania and I wouldn't be around. Running is a way that I can ensure my health is at its best. And
2) I want my kids to know that the impossible is possible. If you work hard for something you can achieve things that you think are impossible.

And the last reason for why I'm running the NYC marathon is that I'm (probably) only ever going to do this once. And being able to run the most famous marathon in the world by raising funds for an issue close to my heart (pun intended!) is an opportunity too good to refuse.

I need your help -- to make sure I can run in NYC I need to raise $3500 It's really easy to chip-in -- and all the money goes into heart research and getting a better understanding of problematic heart issues like mine

BTW -- I'm raising funds via GoFundMe because a lot of my friends and family are in Australia. And my NYC Marathon Heart Foundation fundraising page  somehow won't  let Australians donate
