Hi everyone!! This is Remi. She presented to me with multiple gunshot wounds after only having a litter of puppies a day prior. Initially, it was apparent there were several wounds to her right arm and at least one to her neck. She was in shock and extremely painful. After stabilization, it was revealed that her humerus was totally shattered from 2 gunshots. The 3rd shot traveled through the top of her neck and out of her other shoulder. She was extremely lucky that none of the shots were fatal, but she was far from being out of the woods. Remi was not being cared for appropriately and obviously was put into a situation she didn’t deserve to be in. She was covered in fleas and was very dirty. Her mammary glands were very engorged/swollen and painful as well, as she hadn’t been able to properly nurse her puppies yet.

Due to the severity of her wounds and financial constraints, Remi was surrendered to us. We unfortunately had to split her from her puppies, but she isn’t in a great position to care for them appropriately anyway, so they will be bottle-raised.

In order to give Remi the best chance of comfort and quickly, the choice was made to amputate her right arm. She is 10x happier and 10x less pain-free only a few days since her amputation! She is unbelievably sweet, and her happiness throughout this situation is remarkable. She steals your heart the minute you meet her. It warms my heart more than I can say to be a part of her journey and see her heal.

As you can imagine, she has quite the hospital bill after several days of hospitalization and an amputation. She still needs to be spayed and given all her vaccinations. We found out recently she is also heartworm positive so she will be undergoing heartworm treatment in the coming months. This sweet girl doesn’t deserve anything of this!
