Hello, everyone! Our beloved Reginald is going through a tough time, and we really need your help. Reg has been my baby since 2021 and has brought so much joy into our lives. He has lived a healthy life, with the exception of some dental work needing done last summer. Unfortunately, he has faced some unanticipated medical issues and continues to receive follow-up care.

On February 12, we noticed Reg was lethargic, laying around in one spot for long periods of time with little to no energy. He was not eating, drinking, using the litter box, or playing with his siblings and foster siblings.

On February 15, we noticed Reg's breathing was abnormal and labored. We took him to the emergency vet right away and he was put on oxygen. They found out his heart was enlarged (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and were concerned about congestive heart failure due to fluid in his lungs. A diuretic did not work to clear the fluid, confirming no CHF, so they switched to an antibiotic for bronchopneumonia.

After 3 nights at the hospital, Reg was discharged to attend an appointment in Corvallis on February 18 with a cardiologist. They confirmed he has an enlarged heart and unsure of the cause (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with mild left atrial enlargement - open etiology).

On February 26, we drove back up to Corvallis for an internal medicine appointment to do additional testing as his white blood cell count was SEVERELY high at the hospital (and to rule out anything cancerous). His WBC count has returned to a more normal level but we are still waiting on results from the other tests they ran.

Reginald has been doing very well at home since returning from the hospital. He is eating, drinking, sleeping, using the litter box, and playing with his siblings and foster siblings! We are so happy to see him doing well.

We are doing everything we can to ensure Reg receives the treatment he deserves, but we are facing some financial challenges and the medical bills are piling up. So far, the total from his hospital stay and two visits in Corvallis is almost $7,200.
