<div>Mein Name ist Janina und ich bin die Gründerin der Non-Profit-Organisation <a href="https://www.bridging-gaps.org/de" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bridging Gaps</a>. Ich habe Bridging Gaps letztes Jahr zusammen mit Danielle und Malish gegründet, als Passionsprojekt neben unseren täglichen Jobs, weil wir glauben, dass jeder seine Zukunft gestalten und die Welt verändern kann - und wir sind hier, um ihnen dabei zu helfen.

<div><strong>Was ist Bridging Gaps? </strong>
</div>
<div>Unsere Geschichte beginnt mit Malish James, einem Flüchtling, Geschichtenerzähler und Gründer des Afri-Youth Network in der ugandischen Flüchtlingssiedlung Bidibidi. Als wir mit Malish die Herausforderungen in Bidibidi untersuchten, entdeckten wir ein Problem, das wir lösen wollen:

<div>Die Flüchtlinge in der Gemeinde erhalten zwar Nahrungsmittelhilfe von internationalen Organisationen, können sich aber kaum andere grundlegende Dinge leisten, wie etwa neue Kleidung für ihre Kinder. Anstatt die Lebensmittel zu essen, müssen sie sie also umtauschen, um ihre Grundbedürfnisse zu decken. Wir wollen sie in die Lage versetzen, sich selbst zu versorgen, indem sie ihre eigenen sozialen Unternehmen gründen, die ihnen ein Einkommen verschaffen und ihrer Gemeinschaft Gutes tun.

<div><strong>Was haben wir erreicht?</strong>
</div>
<div>Seitdem wir angefangen haben, konnten wir 81 lokale Changemaker zu Unternehmer:innen ausbilden, 6 Sozialunternehmen durch die Vergabe von Mikrokrediten etablieren, Partnerschaften mit 10 lokalen und globalen Organisationen eingehen und bauen zurzeit 25 von Geflüchteten geführte Unternehmen auf. Unser Team ist auf 11 engagierte Mitglieder angewachsen, die als Fundraiser, Trainer für Unternehmertum, Community-Manager und mehr arbeiten. Wir wurden als eines von 10 Teams ausgewählt, die im letzten Sommer den Accelerator für gemeinnützige Organisationen der Athari Group durchlaufen haben, und haben am Ende dieses Programms unseren ersten Zuschuss erhalten - und ich könnte nicht stolzer auf dieses großartige Team und unsere bisherigen Leistungen sein.

<div>Bridging Gaps wurde Anfang des Jahres in das East Africa Social Business Ecosystem Builders Program von YY Ventures aufgenommen. Im Rahmen dieser Reise haben wir einen "Matching Fund" erhalten. Darüber wurden alle Spenden, die wir bis zum 15. Juli 2023 erhalten haben, verdoppelt. Wir verfolgen weiterhin das ambitionierte Ziel von 25.000 Euro bis zum Ende des Jahres und freuen uns über Ihre Unterstützung!

<div><strong>What is Bridging Gaps? </strong>
</div>
<div>Our story starts with Malish James, a refugee, storyteller and founder of the Afri-Youth Network in Uganda’s Bidibidi Refugee Settlement. Exploring the challenges in Bidibidi with Malish, we discovered a problem we want to solve:

<div>While the refugees in the community receive food aid from international organizations, they struggle to afford other basic commodities, such as new clothes for their children. So rather than eat the food, they need to exchange it in order to supply their basic needs. We want to empower them to become self-sufficient by starting their own social businesses, providing them with an income and doing good for their community.

<div>Since we started, we have been able to train 81 local changemakers to become entrepreneurs, establish 6 social enterprises through microcredits, partner with 10 local and global organizations, and are currently building 25 refugee-led businesses. Our team has grown to 11 passionate members working as fundraisers, entrepreneurship trainers, community managers and more. We have been selected as one of 10 teams to go through The Athari Group's accelerator for non-profits last summer and received our first grant at the end of this program - and I couldn't be more proud of this amazing team and our combined achievements so far.

<div>Bridging Gaps was accepted into YY Ventures' East Africa Social Business Ecosystem Builders Program earlier this year. As part of this journey, we received a "matching fund." Through this, all donations we received through July 15, 2023 were matched. We continue to pursue an ambitious goal of 25,000 Euros by the end of the year and appreciate your support!
