<div>On Easter Sunday, Susanne began experiencing unusual symptoms – ones that would soon turn her world upside down.

<div>A CT scan revealed what initially appeared to be brain cancer. She was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital, where further tests uncovered the true cause: two distinct brain abscesses, a severe and life-threatening infection. Emergency surgery followed—originally estimated to take 2.5 hours but stretching beyond 4 hours – as doctors worked tirelessly to clean the infection from her brain.

<div>Susanne endured weeks in the ICU, battling complications from infections and severe swelling. She slowly regained her strength, showing remarkable resilience. However, just as hope seemed within reach, new symptoms emerged—morning headaches, vomiting, and eventually a seizure that landed her in the emergency room for an unimaginable 57.5 hours.

<div>Doctors discovered the infection had returned, leading to an intense double craniotomy to remove the affected areas. Surgeons removed 2 sections of her skull, cleared the infection, and replaced parts of it with titanium plates. But despite every setback, Susanne has remained her witty, determined self. She’s walking better than before this ordeal began, her faith and humor intact.

<div>Now, her fight continues, and the financial strain is growing. While Insurance will provide some relief, her income will be halted as she recovers, so all donations will directly offset medical costs, lost income, and facilitate her recovery.
