Hi, my name is Raquel Gebbia and I never thought I’d be here writing this, but my family is facing the hardest fight of our lives.

We are a family of six with four amazing kids who mean everything to us. Over the past few years, life has thrown us more than we could ever imagine. We lost our home and everything we owned due to severe mold. We all were and still are sick from that. I have moved my kids six times in the last six years because we can’t find a safe place to live. I found this rental where we are now and we are facing eviction in the next few days because my husband hasn’t paid rent in a few months. Then I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which has left me struggling with my health every single day.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse, my husband—the heart of our family—went into heart failure. He can no longer work, and now we are months behind on rent. We’ve received an eviction notice, and the reality is terrifying: we have nowhere else to go.

As a mother, I feel broken. I try to stay strong for my kids, but the hardest thing is looking into their eyes and not being able to promise them they’ll have a safe place to sleep tomorrow. I am breaking down and my kids cannot be without parents.
