Support "Africa Music School" during Covid-Crisis

My Name is Fabian Willmann, I'm a professional musician from Germany and was visiting Uganda last year as part of a small brass-band, working with kids at various music schools.
When Francis Kalema, the founder of the "Africa Music School" in Kampala reached out to me for help, I started this crowdfunding campaign.
African Music School is a great organisation and they are doing amazing work with the kids of their community, providing not only musical training but also meals and safe drinking water, medical support and transportation.
They have a motivated staff of volunteers that teach various brass instruments (trumpet, trombone, tuba, saxophone etc.), as well as drums and guitar and the musical level of the school is very high.
"Africa Music School is reaching out to many needy children or orphans as well as single mothers through music. We have almost 270 children and youths benefitting our programs since most of them can’t afford an education in school. We are using music as a tool to reach them, touch their hearts and soul. We give free music lessons to all people especially those less privileged in the community so that they can discover their full potentials."
The ongoing Covid-Crisis and the lockdown that's affecting Kampala until this day has made it very difficult for the staff to raise the funding necessary to keep the school going and reach the kids that are in need.
African Music School needs about 1.000€ per month to survive. If this campaign reaches more than that amount, everything will go towards the second month, third month etc.
This is what AMS needs the funds for:
Rent of the school building: 1.500.000 UGX = 365€
Lunch and safe drinking water: 800.000 UGX = 134€
Basic Medical Support: 500.000 UGX = 122€
Transportation: 320.000 UGX = 78€
Utilities (water, electricity): 300.000 UGX = 73€
Small Compensation for volunteering staff: 800.000 UGX = 195€

The Staff and Kids at African Music School have been more than kind to me and the musicians I was travelling with. With your support, I hope I can return some of that kindness towards them. They surely deserve every help they can get.

Hier eine etwas kürzere Zusammenfassung der detaillierteren englischen Version:
Mein Name ist Fabian Willmann, ich bin professioneller Musiker und habe im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einer Band einige Musikschulen in Uganda besucht und dort mit den Kindern gearbeitet.
Eine Schule ist mir besonders im Gedächtnis geblieben und als mich der Gründer der Schule, Francis Kalema kontaktiert hat, habe ich diese Crowdfunding-Kampagne ins Leben gerufen.
Die „Africa Music School“ in Kampala leistet wirklich tolle Arbeit und bietet den Kindern der Community nicht nur gratis Musik-Unterricht, sondern auch Schul-Essen, sauberes Trinkwasser und grundlegende medizinische Versorgung.
Die Lehrer*innen arbeiten alle ehrenamtlich und unterrichten Blasinstrumente, Schlagzeug und Gitarre auf einem hohen musikalischen Niveau!
Knapp 270 Kinder und Jugendliche profitieren von dem Angebot der Schule, die den oft mittellosen Kindern durch die Musik eine Perspektive bieten kann.
Während der Corona-Krise und dem Lockdown, der in Uganda noch auf unabsehbare Zeit anhält ist es für die Mitarbeiter der Schule extrem schwer, die nötigen finanziellen Mittel für den Fortbestand der Schule zu sichern und die Kinder zu erreichen.
Monatlich braucht die „Africa Music School“ ca. 1.000€, um den Betrieb aufrecht zu erhalten:
Miete (365€), Essen & Trinken (134€), Medizinische Hilfe (122€), Transportation (78€), Wasser & Elektrizität (73€) und eine kleine Kompensation für die ehrenamtlichen Lehrer*innen (195€).
Während unserem Besuch an der Schule, waren die Lehrer*innen und Schüler*innen unglaublich freundlich und haben alles mit uns geteilt – ich hoffe, auf diesem Weg etwas zurückgeben zu können und würde mich über Ihre Unterstützung sehr freuen!

ABOUT AFRICA MUSIC SCHOOL
“through music we make a change”
Africa Music School was founded in December 2017 by an orphan who once lived on streets of Kampala in Uganda known as Kalema Francis.
Abandoned by his mother at the age of three, living by himself with no food, no help and shelter made him feel like something should be done in order to stop this from happening and help others.
