Support Puck's Top Surgery
Donation protected
Hi folks. It's Madi, and I'm fundraising for our friend Puck. We are keeping Puck's given name private. Puck has read, reviewed, and "okay'ed" the following message!
Puck is getting top surgery. They are excited. I am excited. And we hope you are excited with us!
This surgery, while voluntary, is an emotional and physical game changer. I've started this GoFundMe because I don't want price to prohibit Puck from obtaining this life-altering care. And I know there are people out there who - if they knew they could support Puck in this way - they would delight in the opportunity. So, I hope that's you, and I hope you consider showing Puck some love in the form of $$$.
ABOUT THE SURGERY & RECOVERY:
Surgery is scheduled for Apr. 29th, 2024. The procedure is simple and low-risk. But recovery is no joke.
$2,750 - surgery the deposit, due Apr. 9th (help us make it!)
$1,250 - for the anesthesiologist, due day of, so, Apr. 29th
$1,000 - blood work, EKG, and pre-op and post-op appts., etc.
Which brings us to our lofty but achievable $5,000!
Puck's insurance will cover some of the surgery but not all. Everything above insurance DOES NOT COVER.
Email me if you'd like to be on the VISIT and/or MEAL TRAIN sometime from Apr. 29th (day of surgery) to May 8th (possibly longer).
In recovery, Puck will be an ouchy little T-Rex for a good while - you can't lift your arms for the first 3-6 weeks of healing and it's a time full of pain. They won't be weight lifting (no more than 5 lbs) for at least two weeks, and they'll need at home care for the first week, maybe more!
There's lots of info out there in the world about top surgery (helpful and unhelpful). And, as you can probably guess, the decision and the experience is so personal and very different for each individual.
ABOUT PUCK:
Most likely, you know who Puck is, but if you don't here's a little about them/her.
Puck goes by she/her and they/them pronouns, depending on the space and the day.
Puck loves all animals, especially their incredibly weird cats.
Puck knows Kung Fu, a little Japanese, and a lot about camping.
Puck performs with many of you on the improv stage.
Puck has definitely taken pictures of your improv show.
Puck has definitely sat in the audience of your improv show and laughed at your ridiculousness.
Puck has taught me a lot about representation, allyship, world politics, and staying focused on the things that matter in life.
So, dear reader, thanks for being here on this earth. Thanks for reading this. And thanks for adding your money love to our money love pile for Puck!
