<div>Pomsid Thamdy is a 30-year-old who has spent most of his life working on his family’s farm alongside his parents and brother, Adell. Though he once left the island to try life on the mainland, working construction in Wyoming, Pomsid’s heart was always with his family and the land he grew up on. He returned home to help his parents, taking on any job that needed doing—fixing tractors, digging holes, pulling weeds, and planting bananas. While he may not have inherited his parents’ green thumb, Pomsid’s dedication and hard work have always been his way of supporting his family and keeping food on the table.

<div>Recently, the Kona low storms brought devastating floods to their home. The gushing water broke through Pomsid’s bedroom, destroying his room and washing away all his personal belongings. Now, he’s left sleeping in a van that was also damaged by the flood. The land he worked so hard to prepare is now buried under mud, and the bananas he was about to plant are lost. Despite these hardships, Pomsid continues to help his family however he can, but the challenges are greater than ever.
