Support Platurn! Help replace stolen DJ equipment

Donation protected

On Friday, July 5th, DJ Platurn's (aka Luke Thordarson) car was broken into with thousands of dollars stolen from his vehicle.
While many of us who live and work in Oakland know that this is a sadly a common occurrence, it doesn't stop the heartbreak and loss, especially when it's someone you know.

Platurn has helped curate and support DJs locally and nationally for years and its only right that we return the support by helping him get equipment restored.

The goal is to raise $3300 in the next 3 weeks to get him back on his feet.  Working DJs well know that anytime off of work means no paycheck. So, time is of the essence.

Even $15 will help get Platurn one step closer to getting back on his feet.

FromPlaturn's facebook post :
"List of items stolen from my car last night:

- 1 Pioneer S9 mixer (custom 12 inch skinz plate on top with my DJ name -PLATURN- on it)
- 2 Technics 1200s, original 80s issue (all standard, nothing custom, super clean condition)
- 2 red flight cases, black latches/corners (no stickers on them)
- 1 green Tucker & Bloom bag with 3 TB hard drive full of music files, brown leather laptop cover, 1 blue Tucker & Bloom cable bag full of various items, 1 small external drive with mac time machine backups
- 1 black DJ bag with various cables, extension cords, power strips

I don't expect to be able to retrieve any of this stuff, but if you frequent Oakland flea markets, or come across any of this stuff in any way, please shoot me a message on Facebook or email me. (I'm leaving the country for 3 weeks on Monday so phone calls won't work).

Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful responses in support. I'm not the type to set up a donation situation on my own because even though my windows are tinted and all the gear was covered, I've lived in Oakland long enough to know you don't leave shit in your car, ever, even for 5 minutes. Nothing was exposed and this was definitely a desperation break-in (an expensive speaker was left in there so only so many hands were involved) but I partly blame myself, especially knowing this is an epidemic in the Town.

I'm considering an event when I get back to the States to help recover some of this but as of now, there's little I can do. Much love y'all -- please holler if you come across any of the aforementioned items.

Peace -- DJ Platurn "
