Support Panique's Family Relocation to Canada
Donation protected
Help Panique, Everyline, and Maryline start life anew in Ottawa, Canada. They live in the Kakuma refugee camp in Turkana, Kenya. They were ready to move to the USA until the new US administration eliminated that option.
Now a group in Ottawa can arrange relocation, but we need to raise the funds to support the family in their first months in their new home.
Panique left the Democratic Republic of the Congo with a target on his back at 20 when his father was killed by militants, who then sought him. He has been in the UNHCR camp at Kakuma for more than 11 years. Last year, their newborn son died at one day old, likely because of the limited medical aid available. His daughter was badly burned and has recovered.
Camp life is hard, but Panique and his family work to serve their community and better the lives of their neighbors in Kakuma. Panique runs the Wings to Fly Initiative in the camp, which is the implementing partner for CREME, a health education ministry of the University Friends (Quakers) in Seattle, and other programs to provide education and opportunities to fellow refugees.
When the world gets ugly and mean, we wonder what we can do against the enormity of need in the world. Here’s one way to change a family’s life for the better, a family who in turn will help others. Please give generously. ALL GIFTS MADE IN JUNE WILL BE MATCHED 1:1 up to $8,000.
