Support Our Strength

Passionately working in the space of mental health to prevent suicide and overdose by developing a free app (free to users), S.O.S. (Support Our Strength).  S.O.S. will help people with depression, suicide ideation, anxiety, and substance abuse disorder reach out to their circle of support before their situation escalates. I'm striving to normalize needing, asking for, and receiving help.  When people are in a dark place they often don't remember who offered to support them in their time of need. With a push of a button in S.O.S., a person can send a pre-selected text to their support circle such as "Hey, I could really use a friend right now. Can you call me?" When someone from the support circle calls, the app will close the loop with the remaining support circle by sending another pre-selected text such as "Someone else connected with me, thank you for being part of my support circle, let's touch base soon." The app does all the work, all the person in need does is push 1 button in the app to reach out for help. This idea resulted from my own ask for help when I was in a dark place. I reached out to the vastness that is facebook and I was lucky that a friend responded.  Funds will be used in the following areas: -Android platform development (users will have a completely free app with no popup ads) -Testing -Future enhancements (research to find a way to make the functionality available to non-Android users) -Promote the app (marketing, website, graphic design for the app)  I've engaged with a developer who is ready to begin as soon as funds are raised to complete the first phase of the app. I hope you will consider donating to  work towards a path of supporting people in dark times, in an effort to normalizing the need, request, and reception of help.
