We are team# 11089 OutOfBounds, an FTC robotics team from Portland Oregon. We're a 4-H non-profit organization.
We are requesting financial support to buy the raw materials needed to make:
1) Personal Protection Equipment (PPE):
We are currently 3D printing face shields, and delivering them to local hospitals in Portland at no charge. Your support will help us expanding requests from other states. As of 4/19/2020 we have printed close to 100 face shields. We are part of a larger crowdsourcing 3D printing effort in Portland that has assembled and shipped over 1500 assembled shields.
2) Parts for Open Source Ventilator Project
We also support Oregon's ventilator project called Aqualung by 3D printing custom parts. As of 4/19/2020 we have helped support the project by printing close to 30 ventilator parts for the prototypes.
While participating in robotics, we developed many skills, like programming, CAD, Mechanical Engineering, and Community service. After perfecting our robot, and doing over 500 hours of outreach over 9 months, we made it to the state tournament. We were ecstatic. However, due to COVID-19 the state tournament got canceled, much to our disappointment.
We decided to apply our skills to help combat COVID-19. There is a shortage of PPE, putting frontline medical workers at high risk. We have already delivered several face shields to hospitals in Portland.
The funds we will receive will be used to buy:
-PLA printing filament
-PETG printing filament
-Cleaning supplies to donate to the portland 3D priting labs
-Cover the cost of speed-shipping PPE to other states
-Maintain our 3D printer (e.g. replace heads).
We would really appreciate if you gave us financial support.
Thank you!
