<div>Our baby was born at just 25 weeks and is now in the NICU. Everything happened so fast I was hospitalized and I developed preeclampsia (HELLP) very quickly, and within 48 hours had to have an emergency c-section to save mine and baby Waylon’s life. It was the only way to stop me from getting sicker, and now our family is facing a long and ongoing NICU journey.

<div> We live an hour and a half from the hospital, and with four other children at home, this has changed every part of our daily life. For the next several months, we expect to be traveling back and forth while also trying to keep life as steady as possible for our kids. Some days, one of us will be at the hospital with our baby while the other stays home to care for our children. We are doing everything we can to be present for all of our kids during this time.

<div> I had to stop working, and my husband is a Purple Heart recipient and medically retired from the military, so we are living on a fixed income. The extra strain of travel, food, childcare, and unexpected or uncovered medical costs is going to affect our family in a very real way while our baby remains in the NICU for months.

<div> We are asking for help to ease some of that pressure so we can focus on our baby and our children instead of constantly worrying about how to manage every extra expense.
