<div>My name is Lucy, I’m the eldest of four, and I’m fundraising for my dad — the strongest person I know, who is now facing the hardest fight of his life. On August 15th, my dad’s birthday, our lives changed in an instant. Less than a day after leaving hospital, he suffered a severe stroke and was placed into an induced coma. We were told he would never wake up — but a week later, against the odds, he did.

<div>The stroke has taken so much from him — his movement, his speech, even his ability to breathe with ease. He has been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and severe damage from a pontine stroke, leaving him fully dependent on others for even the simplest parts of daily life.

<div>Not long after, he developed pneumonia and was back on a ventilator under sedation. Doctors said his survival chance was very low. By some miracle, he is now off the ventilator and slowly improving.

<div>For someone whose children have always been his world — who loved nothing more than talking, laughing, and spending time with us — this loss is heartbreaking beyond words. I am the eldest of four, and our greatest wish is to bring our dad home, where he can be surrounded by love and family.

<div>Before his stroke, my dad also went through a period of homelessness, which took a huge toll on him. Now, with his health so fragile, it’s more important than ever that we secure a safe, stable home where he can be cared for properly.

<div>While the NHS covers his hospital care, there are many essential costs it doesn’t cover — from equipment and home adaptations, to private carers, therapies, and daily living support. I’ve set up this GoFundMe to help ease the burden so we can focus on caring for him and supporting each other.
