Help college journalism majors graduate

Journalism is one of the most-needed professions today but also one of the most challenging to work in.

The Houston chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is committed to helping journalism and communications majors complete their degrees ready to enter the field.

That's why we set up a scholarship fund in memory of our long-time board member, Susanne Pagano.  

We offer a $1000 scholarship to a college student living in the nine-county greater Houston area who is pursuing a four‐year degree in journalism, communications, digital media or a related field at any accredited four-year college in the state of Texas.  

We need funds to support the scholarship for fall 2021 and we're asking you to donate generously.  Your tax-deductible donation will assist a worthy student during a time when pursuing a college education is fraught with challenge.

Our goal is to raise $1000 to enable us to grant a scholarship next year.  Please join our effort with your donation, and by spreading the word.

Susanne Pagano was a dedicated journalist and long-time board member of the Houston Society of Professional Journalists.  She passed away suddenly in 2014 and  her fellow board members chose to honor her by supporting students planning to enter the field she loved so much.
