Otto Willis has been a member of our Guerneville community since 2011.

You may know him from The Russian River Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center, or 1st Friday Art Walk Guerneville, or Friends of Fife Creek.

He has been in constant pain for months while trying to figure out what's going on. With his first surgery on March 5th, he found out that he has a rare cancer on his salivary gland, and it has spread to his inner right ear and anterior Meckel's cave. Surgery on March 26th to remove most of the tumor mass will require multiple physicians and take 12 to 15 hours. Reconstructive surgery on his face and jaw will happen later. He will be at UCSF hospital for at least a week. The month of April will be recovery. The month of May will be daily radiation therapy which requires him to stay in San Francisco.

While all the health issues are happening, he also must move because his current residence is up for sale. He will be moving to a senior apartment complex in Rohnert Park at the beginning of April.

1) He has Medi-Cal, an exceptional team of UCSF surgeon's and support. The outcome is promising.

2) He has tentatively landed a 55 + senior apartment, signing a lease April 11th.

3) Help with recovery, moving, transportation to appointments, and other support from myself Charles Sommers and friends.

Otto had to take an unpaid leave of absence from work and will need secure funds for at least the next 10 months. A safety net for life expenses during recovery, future procedures and treatments in San Francisco. Paying rent while awaiting a response from EDD disability is a major priority.

Going through all the surgeries and treatments is exhausting, and the burden will hopefully be made lighter with help from friends and the community.
