For the last handful of years Oscar Ruiz has worked fervently to become a phenomenal cellist. I consider him like a nephew and watching- and listening to- him grow in his talent has been so rewarding.
He works incredibly hard taking lessons and practicing his music for various endeavors and has earned many prestigious honors including All West Orchestra, All State Orchestra, Memphis Youth Symphony Orchestra, Governor’s School and even a summer program called National Youth Orchestra where he has been able to perform at Carnegie Hall and in multiple countries.
Oscar also dedicates time playing cello for his church and teaching and guiding other cellists. He is an upstanding and well rounded young man who is very strong in and dedicated to his faith and his family.
Oscar turns 18 very soon and has an exciting line up of in person auditions at several of the best colleges for music- Juilliard, Curtis, Rice, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Eastman, and University of Colorado Boulder. His family has taken on a lot of expenses running him to these auditions all over the country. As my birthday gift to Oscar, I’d like to ask you to consider joining me in financially supporting this extremely talented young cellist and his family. Your generosity will help offset the costs of plane tickets, hotel rooms, transportation, etc.
Oscar’s family works hard and quietly makes sacrifices to invest in him and his talent. However, I know that taking some of this burden from them would be a blessing!
Thank you for your support!
