TW: abuse (Italian and Danish translation below) A bit about me I’m Ornella, I’m 57 and I’m a Neapolitan woman who’s been living in Denmark for the last 29 years.  Denmark has been my safe place in the world but I’ve been dragging my trauma with me since I was an kid and I’ve realised that this backpack needs to be taken where it belongs, to Naples and finally to be left behind. When I was a kid,  I’ve been sexually abused by my after school teacher and this trauma has been haunting me since then. 

I’ve been doing individual and group therapy but I still feel I need a ritual to close the circle. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/78994927_1710877453232355_r.jpg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="78994927_1710877453232355_r.jpg" /> The project On June 15th 2024 I will start a Camino from my safe place in Copenhagen to where my trauma happened: Naples, the city where I was born and raised. The Camino will last approximately two months and the plan is to bike from Denmark to Italian border and then walk and meditate across Italy, until the city of Naples, where my trauma belongs. As a metaphor of the burden I’ve been carrying since I was nine years old, I’ll carry a little backpack with me, filled with some pictures from my childhood. I want to burn them on Naples beach where I used to go often as a kid. As I’d love to build a community of supporters around this journey, I’ll make dinner for whoever will host me during my journey and I’m more than happy to invite supporters to join me for some of the milestones (for a limited time, as the main focus will be meditation on my own).  <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/78994927_1710877741905006_r.jpg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="78994927_1710877741905006_r.jpg" /> Why this crowdfunding? In order to do this camino I had to pause my work for two months at least, so I need some financial support to cover the travel m expenses.  I’ll donate half of the amount collected to the Danish organization KVISTEN and to the Italian NGO Prometeo who helps sexual abuse survivors in Italy.  I’ll share updates on my camino to all my supporters and I’d love to feel your warm hug during this real and metaphorical journey.   Mi chiamo Ornella, ho 57 anni e sono una donna napoletana che vive in Danimarca da 29 anni.
La Danimarca è stata il mio posto sicuro nel mondo, ma ho portato con me il mio trauma fin da quando ero bambina e ho capito che questo zaino deve essere portato al suo posto, a Napoli, e infine lasciato indietro.
Quando ero bambina, sono stato abusata sessualmente dal mio insegnante del doposcuola e questo trauma mi perseguita da allora. Ho fatto terapia individuale e di gruppo, ma sento ancora di aver bisogno di un rituale per chiudere il cerchio.

 Il progetto
 Il 15 giugno 2024 inizierò un Cammino dal mio luogo sicuro a Copenaghen fino al luogo in cui è avvenuto il mio trauma: Napoli, la città in cui sono nata e cresciuta.

Il Cammino durerà circa due mesi e il piano è di andare in bicicletta dalla Danimarca al confine italiano e poi camminare e meditare attraverso l'Italia, fino alla città di Napoli, dove appartiene il mio trauma.

Come metafora del fardello che porto da quando avevo nove anni, porterò con me un piccolo zaino, pieno di alcune foto della mia infanzia. Voglio bruciarli sulla spiaggia di Napoli dove andavo spesso da ragazzina.

Poiché mi piacerebbe costruire una comunità di sostenitori attorno a questo viaggio, preparerò la cena per chiunque mi ospiterà durante il mio viaggio e sono più che felice di invitare i sostenitori a unirsi a me per alcuni traguardi (per un periodo limitato di tempo, poiché l’obiettivo principale sarà la meditazione da sola).
￼ A cosa serve questo crowdfunding?
 Per fare questo percorso ho dovuto mettere in pausa il mio lavoro per almeno due mesi, quindi ho bisogno di un sostegno finanziario per coprire le spese di viaggio. Ho deciso di donare la metà della somma raccolta all'organizzazione danese KVISTEN e all'italiana Prometeo che lotta contro la pedofilia. Condividerò gli aggiornamenti sul mio cammino con tutti i sostenitori e mi piacerebbe sentire il vostro caloroso abbraccio durante questo viaggio reale e metaforico. Da jeg var barn, er jeg blevet seksuelt misbrugt af min efterskolelærer, og dette traume har forfulgt mig siden da. Jeg har lavet individuel og gruppeterapi, men jeg føler stadig, at jeg har brug for et ritual for at lukke cirklen. ￼    Projektet Den 15. juni 2024 starter jeg en Camino fra mit trygge sted i København, til hvor mit traume skete: Napoli, byen hvor jeg er født og opvokset.
