Hi, My name is Heather Brian and on Saturday, December 7th I had the scare of my life. My 2 year old daughter Onesty, was bit in the face by a dog! She was immediately transported by our local emergency room to The Children’s Hospital in Dallas where she received emergency reconstructive surgery. There were no complications and we were able to be discharged that same night. Monday morning comes and I call to schedule her follow appointment just to find out that her insurance did not cover (out of network) and that I would have to pay out of pocket. Being a single mom of 5 and right at Christmas time I just don’t have it. So I called The Children’s Hospital to see if they could refer me to a different surgeon within network and they told me that weren’t allowed to refer out after she had been discharged. I then called her PCP here in town to make an appointment, her PCP tells me he can only refer her back to the plastic surgeon who originally did the procedure. My next option was to change her insurance plan, that doesn’t go into effect for 30 days. So that leave me back at having to pay out of pocket! Her appointment is next Tuesday, December 17th. So I’m here to ask if I organized a bake sale to help raise the money for her up coming appointments and travel expenses if anyone would be willing to donate baked goods or any type of funding.
