<div>Obie Montford, my 69-year-old friend, has been a vibrant part of the Hollywood community since 1989. For the past 15 years, Obie has navigated life in an electric scooter chair after a workplace injury left him disabled. Despite his challenges, Obie's spirit remains strong—he loves nothing more than heading to Hollywood Beach, riding down the Broadwalk for fresh air, and enjoying the music at the bandstand. He's a devoted friend and family member, always eager to socialize and meet new people.

<div>In November, Obie faced a difficult setback. While parked at the beach, he tried to transfer himself from the driver's seat into his electric scooter chair but didn't quite make it, breaking his left leg. Then, on December 20, he suffered another fall while transferring from his bed to his chair, breaking the same leg again. This time, the injury was so severe that doctors had to amputate below his left knee.
