Support NJ Trooper Colquhoun

Donation protected

You may know our brother, Kevin Colquhoun, from the recent NJ State Police Social Media pages for commandeering a rescue boat, to leave his patrol car to save a couple of men who had capsized.

Or maybe you know him from watching the "love" project he has been working on and documenting since May 31, 2018. He and his girlfriend Amanda purchased their first home and have been working tirelessly around the clock renovating their home, making it a beautiful project, and home. They were set to officially move in this weekend. Our first family BBQ  was scheduled for next weekend.

Yesterday, a tragedy struck. He was awoken to a call that his house was on Fire. Thankfully, he had not been staying in the home Monday evening, he opted to stay at my parents house. Thank you to technology, we are able to see that his house was full of smoke and it was pouring out the front door by 6:52 am, and the smoke detectors did not begin to go off until 7:04 am. By 7:45, the electricity to the nest doorbell was cutoff- due to a fire raging within their home.

We, his sisters, are BEYOND grateful that our brother and his girlfriend were not sleeping in the house. It would have been ordinary for them  to, however, we are all acutely aware today that had they slept there, the probability of them waking prior to the alarm would have been slim.

Our brother, for as long as we have known him ( our entire lives) has been the most selfless person we know. He is always willing to help others, he is always the first good samaritan to jump in and save someone in danger- even before becoming a trooper. He has taken his oath to mean he is willing to risk everything to help and save others, and as his family, we are beyond proud.  He would never ask anyone for help, however, many of you may know that he is always always beyond the shadow of a doubt the first to jump in to help. They will no longer be able to move in this weekend- nor do we know the extent of the damage and how many months they will have to wait until their home is rebuilt.

If anyone deserves others to reach out and help if they can, it is Kevin. We cannot bring back the time, blood, sweat and tears they have given to this home, but we can hopefully make it easier for them to once again, make it their first home.

Much Love,
Erin and Maureen
