Our family has been dealt another devastating blow. Our father, Patrick Charles “Charlie” Belcher, passed away on May 12, 2025. This comes only 2 months after his wife, our mother, passed away.
Charlie was admitted to the hospital in the early morning hours of April 30, 2025, where the doctors performed an emergency surgery to treat an ulcer that had caused a hole in his stomach and damage to his bowels.
After recovering in ICU, Charlie was moved to a regular hospital room where plans were made for a short stint in rehab at a nursing home before moving in with his oldest daughter and her family.
This past Friday, May 9, 2025 there was concern that pneumonia had developed from his time on a ventilator in the ICU. Although, the scans revealed further complications requiring a second surgery on his bowels that Friday and again on Sunday.
Doctors had high hopes that Charlie could recover and continue to have a meaningful life with the assistance of his loving daughters and grandchildren, so long as no other complications arose.
Strong and Coherent, Charlie continued to communicate through hand gestures and squeezes, eye contact and head nods until the end. In the end Charlie succumbed to the trauma of his surgeries and additional organ failure.
The family is thankful for any support you can offer, financial or otherwise. Having been blindsided by Charlie’s wife’s death and funeral expenses, they are now burdened with their father’s final expenses.
We are all aware that paying for 1 unexpected funeral is more than most are prepared to handle. But 2 in as many months is beyond what anyone who have lost both parents should be worried about covering.
The total cost of the preparations and interment of Nikki and Ashley’s father is $7,000.
