Nicole had been having some pain in her left breast and pectoral muscle area so she made an appointment with her doctor to figure out what was going on. They did a mammogram and saw something in her right breast but it was inconclusive due to dense breast tissue. At that point an ultrasound was indicated. The ultrasound confirmed that in fact there was something abnormal there. The ultrasound results indicated a needle biopsy was needed. The doctor who made the decision to do the needle biopsy was quite certain that everything would be fine. Nicole's only 33 years old and breast cancer is rare in someone so young.
Shockingly, the needle biopsy came back positive for Invasive Ductal Carcimona. We are extremely grateful that the doctor went ahead with the needle biopsy even though the chances of cancer were slim to none; his judgment call saved her life.
It is an invasive, aggressive cancer that requires in depth medical procedures. Nicole is scheduled for surgery on Friday, July 13th for a double mastectomy. There is a possibility of 2 surgeries. We won't know until the 13th.
Approximately 2 weeks after the surgery she will begin chemotherapy. We won't know how long or what type of chemo until pathology from the tumor is complete following surgery. We do know that best case scenario will be 4 chemo treatments given over a 12 week period.
Her out of pocket expenses have already exceeded $3,000 and we anticipate they will rise above $10,000. None of us have that kind of extra money. Your support will be a tremendous help to pay for the testing, treatment and care she will need. It will also alleviate some of her worry about how this is all going to be paid for; that will be huge in her recovery.
I am humbly asking for your help. Please help Nicole with her fight to beat this cancer and her journey to recovery by donating and sharing this campaign.
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to read this and your consideration to donate and/or share.
I will keep you all posted along Nicole's journey.
