<div>My name is Nicco and <strong>I just lost my best friend Gizmo on August 17th, 2025</strong>. Gizmo wasn't feeling well the past two weeks, and I took him to the vet for a wellness checkup. He was x-rayed and had blood work, and they found a sizeable mass in his spleen/kidney area. They could only help him by exploring that region surgically and attempting to remove the likely tumor. He had emergency surgery for what was a kidney tumor the morning of August 16th. He made it through the surgery and overnight, fighting as hard as his tough little self could, but ultimately lost his battle the following morning after seeing me one last time.

<div>Gizmo was the better half of me; he had all of the attributes in a being that I aspired to have. He was outgoing, loving, always smiling, just so happy and playful. He followed me everywhere I went, and he had an incredible sense of empathy within him. He knew when I was sad, and he would stand on my chest with his heavy little paws and bury his face into mine, basically demanding me to cheer up. Gizmo was small, but he was so mighty. He was fighting; I could see he was. That dog, for a better part of his life, was not only strong for himself but for me.

<div>If you knew Gizmo and me, you'd know this incredible animal saved me in the darkest parts of my life, and I tried to do the same for him. I did everything financially possible on my side that I could for him. I do have pet insurance to help with some costs, but I would still be coming out of pocket a decent amount. <strong>Anything would help me in such a hard and devastating time while I try to recover from this mentally and emotionally tragic incident.</strong> Thank you so much to anyone that offers their help.
