<div>On the morning of Friday, July 17, Nhân Le was attacked by a stranger in northwest Harris County. It was unprovoked and without warning. He was going about an ordinary morning.

<div>In the first days after the attack, his family and friends wrote this about him:

<div>"Many of us know Nhân from Klein Forest High School's Class of 2012. He has always been one of the kindest people you could meet; friendly, genuine, and always willing to help anyone in need without expecting anything in return. He has touched so many lives with his generosity and compassion. "
</div>

<div>The days since have brought news no family should ever have to hear. But everything written above about who Nhân is remains true, and always will be. He never asked anything of anyone. His family is asking now, on his behalf.
</div>

<div>Nhân was taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, where he has been in the intensive care unit ever since. His family has been told he will not recover. They are now living through the hardest days a family can face.
</div>

</div>
<div>We're organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Nhân's family. We're friends from the circle around him, and the family already has more than enough to carry. Running the fundraiser is one thing we can take off their hands so they can stay where they need to be.

<div>Every dollar raised goes directly to Nhân's family. The funds will help with:

<div>The man charged in the attack was arrested that same morning. According to ABC13 and Harris County court records, he had 16 prior criminal charges, and a case alleging he assaulted an elderly man was dismissed in February after he completed a mental health diversion program. Nhân's family wants his story known, so that what happened to him is not repeated.

<div>Anh Nhân được đưa vào bệnh viện HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest và nằm trong phòng chăm sóc đặc biệt (ICU) từ hôm đó đến nay. Các bác sĩ đã cho gia đình biết rằng anh sẽ không qua khỏi. Gia đình anh đang trải qua những ngày đau đớn nhất của đời mình.

<div>Người bị cáo buộc tấn công anh Nhân đã bị bắt ngay sáng hôm đó. Theo đài ABC13 và hồ sơ tòa án quận Harris, người này từng có 16 cáo buộc hình sự trước đây, và một vụ án cáo buộc ông ta hành hung một người lớn tuổi đã được bãi bỏ hồi tháng Hai sau khi ông ta hoàn tất chương trình chuyển hướng sức khỏe tâm thần (mental health diversion program). Gia đình anh Nhân mong câu chuyện của anh được nhiều người biết đến, để bi kịch này không lặp lại với bất kỳ ai khác.
