<div>This disease has taken so much from me. I have lost jobs, opportunities, relationships and precious moments with my 9-year-old son simply because my body couldn’t keep up. I have spent countless nights in agony, wondering when the next crisis will strike and how I will survive it.

<div>But the most painful loss of all? My sister, sickle cell anemia took her from me, a wound that time will never heal. Losing her was a devastating reminder of how cruel this disease can be, and why I must keep fighting. I don’t want my son to grow up without his mother. I don’t want this illness to take any more from me than it already has.

<div>Right now, I am in the hospital preparing for a medical procedure that could change everything; one that offers me a chance at a better, more manageable life. But healing doesn’t come without a cost. I need a caregiver to support me through this critical time, and I’m facing mounting medical bills, living expenses, and the fear of how I’ll manage it all.
