Hi friends, family and all who have continued to support Nev.

After 35 long days, today Nev is being relocated to a different facility to continue recovery and rehabilitation. We are excited for this new journey for her as things are beginning to look more positive.

Unfortunately, she is still in a condition where continuous care is needed. We don’t have answers for how long that will last. She has stayed positive through everything and everyone at the facility she is leaving, LOVES her.

She continues to work hard in mobility and speech. Memory is the biggest challenge she is facing.

We still don’t have a clear view of when this will be over. Due to the severity of her TBI, and the type that it is, doctors don’t have a full idea of the long term effects this will have. The injury is microscopic damage which makes recovery extremely difficult to predict.

Luckily, we are working with some of the best people in the country to navigate these challenges.

Please continue to share and support. This is really hard. On her, on her family, on her friends.

Thank you for the endless support and love. ❤️

Hi friends, family and all who have and continued to support Nev through this.

Nev has been at the rehabilitation facility for 24 days. She is working hard on talking and mobility, as well as rebuilding memory and learning. This process is going to be long and extremely challenging in every aspect.

She is also preparing to go to another rehab facility soon.

The end of this road is still not in view. No one knows how long it will take for her to fully recover and we want that to be known. It is much more complicated than it seems, it is just incredibly difficult to explain the severity of it.

This is still extremely overwhelming for everyone and we will continue to update as needed.

Thank you for the continued love and support. ❤️

Hi friends, family, and all who have been supporting her through this difficult time.

Over the past week, she has been making progress and working towards the recovery stage. Due to her coming out of a coma, we are finally able to start assessing the TBI and where to begin with treatment. With the help of the incredible doctors and nurses here and elsewhere, she has been accepted into one of the top TBI rehabilitation center in the country. As exciting and positive as this is, it is going to be expensive for family getting to and from there as often as possible and the bills that will come with the program later. We are raising our goal again in the hopes of making things as comfortable as possible for Nev as she’ll need constant support from us and everyone around her. We want her to be in the best hands for recovery and rehabilitation and be surrounded by her people as she starts this long process.

Your kindness and support has been nothing but positive and encouraging. We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who has been following us on this journey. Please continue to share and support. Don’t let time kill the intensity of the situation, continue to spread her story. Talk to your loved ones about the importance of driving aware and safely. As much as we are getting positives, this is a super intense situation and very difficult for everyone.

Again, thank you for all of the love coming our way. More updates will come as it is necessary. ❤️

Hi Friends and family.

On Saturday, August 10th, at approximately 1:30am, our precious Nevaeh was critically injured in a severe car collision due to the actions of a suspected impaired driver. Thanks to the rapid response of fire rescue crews, and an automatic crash detection alert from one of the occupant’s cellphones, she was quickly transported to the hospital in critical condition, full trauma code.

While now currently in stable condition, Nevaeh sustained a traumatic brain injury along with 16 fractures, 9 fractures requiring 3 separate surgeries. Due to the nature of the injury to her brain, she is in a coma and will require extensive care and rehabilitation when she wakes up.

Nevaeh's overwhelming strength, tenacity, and drive, along with her young age and good health are all characteristics that will help her kick rehabilitation’s ass. She has a long road ahead of her.

The overwhelming outpouring of love and support from Nevaeh’s friends is a testament to her spirit. Her kindness, sense of humor, and selflessness have touched so many lives. We are deeply grateful for the assistance offered by so many people.

To parents and friends, we urge you to communicate with loved ones about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. A single lapse in judgment can have devastating consequences. Please, talk with your loved ones. We strongly believe that the more these conversations are had, impaired driving would eventually become a thing of the past.

To help cover the large amount of future medical and rehabilitation expenses associated with Nevaeh’s care, a GoFundMe campaign was created. We sincerely appreciate any contributions.

A huge heartfelt thanks to the Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue team for their lifesaving efforts and to everyone who has provided support.

Please respect our privacy during this time as our focus is solely on Nevie. We will give updates when we are comfortable to do so.

Thank you,

The Powells

Please respect space and privacy for the family at this time, it is overwhelming for everyone❤️
