I was given the news that I have kidney cancer & will be having surgery to remove my left kidney and surrounding lymph nodes, tentatively scheduled for October 31st.
When I was in the hospital at the end of July with pneumonia, they had done ct scans & found a mass on my left kidney.
After surgery, I will be out of work for 6-8 weeks, depending on how fast I heal.
Update: Surgery went well, pathology report was disappointing as my kidney cancer turns out to be very rare. There are 4 categories of kidney cancer and mine doesn't fit any of them. My oncologist and the Mayo clinic brainstormed and came up with a treatment cocktail, a combo of chemo and immunotherapy, that I will start on December 5th. It will be once a week for 54 weeks. Hoping that it works.
