Support Needed for Car Transmission Repair

My car needs a new transmission and I need to get it fixed so I can get it back to Portland.

I drove to Idaho for my mother’s 70th birthday and just outside of Boise my car started having problems. 3 different car places later and I need a new transmission. I can pay for part of it - $4000. But the total cost is $5500.

I am horrible at asking for help, it makes me feel like I’m not strong enough to make it on my own. But I need help. I love my car. She’s not pretty anymore and she’s 13 years old but she runs pretty well (minus the transmission). She has brand new tires (less than a month old). She makes it possible to visit fiber festivals and yarn crawls. I can help friends with errands and trips that are inconvenient by bus. She makes it possible to take a caterwauling cat to the vet without bothering a bus load of people. She’s even gone camping (although we probably won’t do that again…).

I work for the public library, which isn’t a huge money making career, but I am proud of libraries.
