Hi everyone,

Many of you know our son Nash as a bright, funny, and incredibly unique kid. From the time he was very young, we always said he was our “little 90-year-old man.” He’s always had interests that seemed unusual for a child his age and a personality that marches to the beat of his own drum.

As Nash has gotten older, those differences have become more noticeable. His interests have become more intense, and social interactions and navigating the world around him have become more challenging for him.

After completing a full psychological assessment, Nash was diagnosed with autism.

While Nash is incredibly capable and loving, he often seeks out quiet, isolated spaces when he feels overwhelmed. Situations that many of us find routine can be difficult for him to manage, and we want to give him the support and tools he needs to feel safe and confident as he grows.

One of the most powerful supports available to him is a highly trained companion dog through Dogs with Wings Assistance Dog Society.

These dogs are specially trained to support children with autism by providing:

• safety and grounding in overwhelming situations

• emotional regulation and comfort

• increased confidence and independence

• companionship and unconditional support

Each dog takes over two years and more than $40,000 to raise and train. Families contribute $6,000 toward the program, and we are fundraising to help reach that goal.

We are incredibly grateful to have been accepted into this program, and we know the impact this companion dog could have on Nash’s life.
