I have had the honor to raise Naiomi so far and pushed her to always be the best version of herself.
She has been state and national honor roll student throughout her educational course thus far. Valedictorian for elementary school (Amber Charter School) and salutatorian for middle school (PS 171). High school was no different. All schools in the heart of east harlem. She graduated with honors from Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics, took multiple AP courses (passed and received credit for these) earned a seal of biliteracy in civic readiness and a seal of biliteracy in Spanish. All of these accomplishments while being part of the sound system in theater for her first three years of high school, played Varsity soccer and both JV & Varsity Softball.
She was offered a great opportunity to attend Fordham University! They gave her scholarships and grants that cover 50% of the cost to attend her dream school. I was able to pay the deposit and appealed the financial decision to request for more aid but it was denied.
Despite having a full time job, which disqualified Naiomi from HEOP and other programs that would help cover tuition cost we have been living paycheck to paycheck for the past few years. Inflation along with other unforeseen circumstances (her dad getting injured/unable to work and having a second child) have not helped our credit history. Naiomi refuses to take on a large loan (approx over 30K ) for her 1st year. She deserves to be able to attend College after all her dedication throughout the years without accumulating such large debt. Please help us send Naiomi off to college.
We have never asked for financial support before but I refuse to let her give up after all her hard work. We appreciate all the support and if you know of any scholarships that are still taking applications please let us know.
It really takes a village to raise a child. All the contributions no matter how small add up. If you can't donate please share or comment if you know naiomi why she deserves her communities support. Thank you so much!
