Support Myrna Mark
Dear all,
As many of you know, on Sunday, June 6th, our beloved friend and colleague Myrna Mark was hit by a car while crossing the street with her dog in a crosswalk. She suffered very serious injuries (a cranial fracture that caused hemorrhaging and considerable swelling of the brain; a myocardial contusion; and a collapsed lung), which sent her to the ICU where she has been ever since. After emergency surgery at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, doctors were able to contain the hemorrhaging, and the inflammation started to slowly go down. She was placed in an induced semi-coma to try to better manage her condition. She has been progressing at a slow but steady pace, and on day nine she has started to show signs of awareness, being able to respond to doctor´s commands by moving her legs, wiggling her toes, and
following their fingers with her eyes.
She is facing a long road to recovery which, we all hope, will be successful and complete. We are setting up this GoFundMe account to help her and her family with the financial strain that, undoubtedly, they will face. We ask those of you who can, to make a contribution to this fund, no matter the amount—every little bit will help. Please, don’t feel obligated to do it if your own financial situation doesn’t allow it. Prayers, positive thinking and good energy are also very important. We have set a goal of $10,000 (the website asks you to set a goal), but any amount we raise will be greatly appreciated.
So, thank you in advance to all of you who have called, sent text messages, emails, and shown the love that we all feel for Myrna. And thank you all for your help in her time of need.
Sincerely,
Miguel Garcia and Branda Rosas-Almada
