Support my Strong Sister

Donazione protetta
The story is so long I don't know where to begin. I have tried typing this several times and had to erase everything and start over. Essentially, my sister has had a long battle of illness and healing. After bouts of migraines and many visits to specialists in middle school she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue. What we learned over the following years was that while she appears to be healthy and physically very strong, she has a subpar immune system. This became evident when it would take her 2 weeks to recover from the 24 hr flu.  She had a fairly normal high school and college career as an athlete.  Unfortunately, during one of her soccer games in college, where she played goal keeper, she was injured and a broken bone in her wrist was misdiagnosed as a sprain. She had 20 different surgeries on one wrist in attempt to alleviate her pain, but was left with a badly scarred and fused wrist that still hurts her.  Before the last surgery on her wrist she had signed up to run in the Baltimore Marathon to raise funds for Leukemia.  Quin is a real fighter and learned to deal with constant pain but something started to hurt more than usual while she trained for the marathon. Surgery was scheduled to remove a plate in her wrist and she asked if it could be put off until the marathon.  The doctors told her it could not because there were screws loose that were cutting into her tendons. During the surgery, the doctor ended up breaking a bone in her hand! So, she missed a good bit of training for the marathon...but she ran it with a cast on her arm and raised money for a good cause. Now, I believe it is her time to be lifted up.
Quin is a wonderful mom and is married to a police officer.  She was admitted into the hospital on October 28th  for a fever and contractions in the 28th week of her pregnancy. There were a lot of complications and a lot of medications but to keep the story as short as possible she ended up having an emergency C-section after several days of being in the hospital.   Since then, while the doctors did an amazing job at saving her baby, she has been struggling to fight infections, has had numerous CT scans, and has been on a lot of different medications both antibiotics and painkillers. She has had drains put in her abdomen and in her back to pull infected fluids out of abscesses that developed around her uterus and has been in so much pain that she could not make it one floor down to the NICU to see her baby unassisted. Quin and her husband have three other children at home and they live an hour away from the hospital. Their little girl celbrated her 4th birthday in the hospital December 6th because her mom was still there.   Quin was discharged on December 7th with a line in her arm and she is still on IV antibiotics  7 times a day for at least  one month at home.  The medication is making her nauseous and she is having trouble keeping food down.  Baby Jack came home from the NICU 12/21.   He is healthy,  but unfortunately Quin has constant abdominal pain.  She and her husband have so many things to worry about with her healing, and a preemie baby, the last thing I want them to be concerned about is all of the expenses they re going to be slammed with. They also have had  to enroll their youngest at home in a preschool that their budget does not allow for. I am hoping to raise some money here to help alleviate any concerns that they will have about the huge debt that is rising every day. I am also hoping for a large number of small donations. I think it could really help her to be in a positive emotional place to see how much people care.
Thank you!
