<div>Functions is a one-person show based on my personal experience. I have just performed this show at the Spring 2026 United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City and will perform it later this year at the Midtown international Theatre Festival in the summer and again at United Solo in the fall.

<div>In the show, a mathematically-inclined playwright on the autism spectrum approaches his fortieth birthday in the wake of the COVID shutdown. Despite having a master's degree in mathematics he can only find work as a volunteer tutor in low-income neighborhoods and lives with his less-than-understanding parents. As he deals with isolation and a lack of professional and personal success, such as the neurodivergent theatre company that ousted him after agreeing to stage his work he contends with his Pollyannaish grandmother, his yuppie brother about to get married and a fellow spectrumite far less socially adept. He finds that while the world is not as orderly as mathematics, connections can occur in unlikely places, and while the glass may not be half full, it’s not entirely empty, and things are not over yet.

<div>This play deals with the challenges faced by the neurodivergent community as well as disabled people in general, such as isolation and underemployment, and fighting for representation in the arts.

<div>I am raising funds to cover the cost of hiring a director and tech, paying to have it included in theatre festivals and publicizing the show. I am currently in between jobs and paying out of my own pocket, so every contribution will help.
