<div>On March 20th, 2026, our lives changed forever. My husband suffered a seizure while driving in Oakland, which led to two car accidents in a single day. After the second accident, things took an even more devastating turn—his belongings were taken, and he was shot. The trauma from that day has left him facing a long road to recovery, including learning how to walk again.

The sudden loss of his income has made it nearly impossible to keep up with everything, and the emotional toll has been overwhelming.

<div>i want to add in I understand many people concern about safety, but I do want to correct a few things. In California, it’s typically around 3 months seizure free, not a year and my husband does have a valid driver’s license.

<div>He was not being irresponsible. He takes his medication as prescribed and we believed his seizures were under control. Unfortunately, seizures are not always predictable, and what happened was a medical emergency not a reckless choice.

<div>And regardless of anything else, no one deserves to be punched on, robbed, and shot while experiencing a seizure. That should never be the outcome.
