Hello, my name is Harold. I'm raising funds for my father's medical expenses. My father's name is Harold Berguson Sr., and he is 73 years old. He has always been there for us; he is a loving father, devoted husband, and has the overall goal to see his 4 grandchildren graduate from high school. As a side note, my father is not a smoker nor a drinker, so the hospital is puzzled by the findings.

Unfortunately, in November, he had an irritated throat and was starting to lose his voice. His personal doctor thought it might be allergies or a cold. However, after a week or so, he started to have difficulty swallowing and breathing. He went into the hospital to be scoped, and this is when they found a mass, approximately 2.5cm x 3cm, on the left side of his throat. The hospital proceeded to admit him. The next day, the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist attempted to get a biopsy of the mass. Unfortunately, this caused my dad's throat to collapse, and he was immediately placed on a ventilator and put in a coma. They gave him a 40 percent chance of making it out. When the ENT didn't see improvement, they asked my mother to get his living will ready for the worst-case scenario. The ENTs did an emergency tracheotomy. The ENT was able to get good samples via tracheostomy. The lab reported back and confirmed he had laryngeal cancer, and it had been growing around his vocal cords and his voice box. His only option at this point is to have his entire voice box and vocal cords removed.

Currently, he is attempting to get stronger so he can survive the procedure. However, he has been hospitalized for approximately 21+ days, and the costs are adding up.

I am asking for donations to assist my mother and father with medical expenses. Anything will help and is greatly appreciated.
