We all have a dream. Mine is to spend a cold November night in the elements, armed with nothing but a sleeping bag and my box, which is anything but a dream house. In truth, I’ll only be inhabiting this modest abode for one night. The real dream is to raise $25,000  to help prevent youth in Alaska from ever having to experience homelessness. That’s why I’m participating in the Covenant House Alaska Sleep Out.

The Sleep Out is not about pretending to be homeless. It’s an act of solidarity with young people who experience homelessness and  trafficking each year. It’s a decision that we can’t stay indoors while so many kids remain outside. Covenant House offers so much more than a safe place to sleep – they welcome each kid with absolute respect and unconditional love, and their continuum of care provides essential services to help kids transition from homelessness to independence.
