Who We Are

Hi, we are Alex and Anuva! We co-founded Mutual Love a year ago to create spaces for trans and queer people to feel comfortable, rest, and heal together. As our country continues to attack our communities, we are more determined than ever to continue to cultivate trans and queer connection, joy, play, and wellness through our festivals and retreats.

Mutual Love began because of a spark in our friendship. We met while working in advancing trans healthcare in Fall 2020, and quickly realized that our shared vision of LGBTQ+ agency, rest, connection, joy, and well-being for ourselves and our communities was not just a need but a possibility.

We wanted better community and work experiences for ourselves and for the communities and legacies that we are part of, so we decided to make it happen. We believe that intentional spaces focused on community connection, regulating our nervous systems, and play will have outsized impacts on the global loneliness and mental health crisis.

Where We’ve Been

In the last year, we’ve hosted all ages events with thousands of attendees in New York, LA, and Austin centering queer and trans joy and rest.

In September 2022, we decided to celebrate the one year of Mutual Love’s existence with an unofficial SXSW event in March 2023 about inner child healing, joy, and rest and regulation in community. A one day event blossomed into a 3-day festival, and one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives.

Where We’re Going

We’re a Brown trans-led, bootstrapped team doing this heart-work full time. These funds will go directly to the community through our events, festivals, retreats and scholarships and will allow us to begin to take these to different cities in the US and beyond. We know how important the future of Mutual Love spaces are (just check out the video!) and we need your support more than ever to make it happen.
