My beloved teacher assistant and friend, Ms. Helen Carthens, suffered from three mini-strokes on August 26th. She is lucky to be alive right now, and I am so grateful that she is still here with us. Unfortunately, the strokes affected her balance, and it will take months for her brain to heal. Because of this, she has not been able to work in the classroom and will not be able to go back to driving a bus for quite some time. This is interfering with her livelihood, and although she would never ask for it herself, she could really use your help. On top of all of that, she just received a letter that her insurance denied her claim to cover her hospital stay, adding to the stress and financial burden of an already difficult time.
