I am trying to raise money for my dog Moose's surgery. He's 5 years old and has suffered from a bilateral ACL tear, meaning that he tore his ACLs in both his back legs. While he can still operate mostly normally, it has caused him to be physically diminished, and any physical enrichment leads to clear discomfort for him afterward.
I want to provide him a happy and healthy life, however, and have been trying to save up the money to get at least one leg done. With my income and the current cost of living crisis, I've been unsuccessful, and the longer he goes without treatment, the worse his quality of life will become as he ages.
When I took him to Blue Pearl, the price I was given at the time was $6500 to get both legs done simultaneously. I am seeking out a second opinion and a possible cheaper price tag. For now, I am seeking $4000 to get at least one leg done and make a deposit on the surgery for his second. I was informed that there can be issues from doing both at the same time, which is why I want to get a second opinion.
Hopefully, we can get him back to his full strength soon so he can play with his cousins and go for long walks again.
