<div>In 2 August 2026 I am participating in the 2026 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge®, a demanding physical and mental endurance challenge ride of 11,000 miles. My goal is to raise awareness and funds for Veteran suicide prevention. I am Rider 1309. <div>Current data shows an average of 17.6 to 24 veterans died by suicide per day totaling over 6,407 per year. This rate remains significantly higher than the non-veteran population. While the total number of veteran suicides has slightly decreased from previous years' peaks, it remains a critical issue.

<div>Key Findings on Veteran Suicide

<div>Risk Factors: Firearms are the leading method, involved in 74% of veteran suicides.
</div>
<div>VA Care: Approximately 7 of the 17.6 daily suicides were among veterans who had recently received care from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
</div>
<div>Risk Demographic: The rate of suicide is highest among younger veterans (18-34 years old).
</div>
