Hi family and friends,
In 2008 my beautiful daughter Melynda was diagnosed with Lupus. Lupus is an inflammatory disease where the immune system attacks its own tissues. Not much is known about Lupus due to lack of funding in research. Melynda has fought the ups and downs of this disease fiercely, even doing her own research beyond what her doctors have advised.
Her battle with this disease, however, has taken a toll on her kidneys and she is going to have surgery in June to have a kidney transplant. As you all know even with health insurance medical procedures can be a financial strain for anyone with health issues. The cost of the operation is almost $300,000. A lot of that will be covered by her health insurance, however, she will have to cover almost $60,000. That will include out of pocket expenses for the surgery, medications and weekly doctor visits for just the first year alone.
She's extremely private with personal issues and never asks for help. So as her father I will ask for her. Would you please consider donating any amount that you can to help defray the cost of these overwhelming medical expenses.
