It is with a deep sadness and achy hearts that we mourn and honor the life of my grandmother Marina. She was a beloved grandmother, mother, aunt, sister and neighbor that always cared for others deeply and loved her children and grandchildren beyond words.
Our family is rocked by this tragic loss that unfortunately came from a tumor that had rooted behind her heart and lungs and began to spread throughout her body. After countless tests and medicines it took several visits to understand it was a cancerous tumor that was causing her severe esophagus pain, difficulty/heavy breathing and drained energy. Once we learned her fight was going to be difficult, my mother and her siblings flew in from across the country to her care only to have a few days left with her on this plane of existence. My tita, grandma in spanish, passed away this morning, Nov 24th, as my mother arrived to be with her in her final moments. Marina was always tough as nails so we are grateful she is no longer in so much pain as we've taken it on for her.
If that wasn't enough, my grandfather Ricardo is in need of medical help too. Alongside my tita, he has been seen by several specialists to understand his undiagnosed liver problems. What may be cirrhosis of the liver, we are still several tests and medical costs away from determining the true cause and treatments for the future.
Considering how difficult 2020 has been for us all, we understand it's tough. But if you can spare anything at all, we need your help now more than ever to get through the holidays as a family. Your donations will help towards funeral costs for my grandma Marina and medical costs for tests and treatments for my grandpa Ricardo. Hand and hand they've gone through it all together after being married 50 years and showing us what true love looks like! So please help us help them.
