Hey everyone, Mike was in the hospital for 3 1/2 out of the last 6 weeks. On Oct 24th, the hospital finally listened to me about who Mike is and everything that has happened over the last 5 years, and I challenged them to check his brain. They did an MRI and they found a subependymoma (tumor) in the 4th ventricle of his brain. This tumor is double the size of the area it is in, meaning it is cutting off his CSF randomly and pressing on other parts of the brain. He has had 5 years of being misdiagnosed as mentally ill.
So, I am doing this GoFundMe because we are tired as all hell, and honestly, I don’t think I have it in me to pull off another miracle money-wise. We are going the route of applying for him to be on disability because he was a contract worker. Disability takes months even with the disability lawyer he has.
So I am trying to keep his health insurance through Cobra because this doesn’t have a short fix. Even if he gets in the operating room tomorrow, the recovery for brain surgery is months. If he applies for unemployment, it will jeopardize his disability claim.
Ethan and Evan have lost their father for the past 5 years already, help me help Mike get his life back. Mike worked for 21 years at Universal before symptoms started. There was no mental illness. One day he woke up completely confused. Mike maintained jobs while he could in the last 5 years, and honestly, it has been quite impressive, but he needs to stop now and take care of himself.
So if anyone is willing to help, please donate because believe me, the thought of brain surgery is beyond comprehension right now (even though we know it is in the future), and we are all a little shocked but feel validated at the same time.
