<div>For those of you who do not know, <strong>Mike was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in March of 2025</strong>. Since then, Mike has undergone several procedures including multiple bone marrow biopsies, spinal taps, CT scans, has had a Hickman line placed, several doses of chemotherapy and radiation, and many, many tests done.

<div>Since being diagnosed, he has spent weeks at a time in Cleveland Clinic receiving multiple rounds of chemotherapy but also recovering from meningitis, blood clots in his lungs and in his Hickman line (that connects to his heart), pneumonia, diabetes, and severe headaches—just to list a few of the "complications" that have come along.

<div>As many of you know, a severe illness such as cancer can have a huge financial strain on anyone. From paying for parking daily at the hospital and the cost of cafeteria food when Carol is staying with him, to the cost of gas, and everything in between, it can take its toll. Even through all of this and taking care of Mike, Carol is trying to fulfill her duties at her church, working part-time, taking care of their dogs, and trying to spend as much time as she can with her great-grandchildren, Lilyana and Kian, all while taking care of herself and her health.

<div>At this stage of Mike's treatment, he is set to have a bone marrow transplant at the beginning of September, pending his current blood clot issue. Once Mike has the transplant, he will have an extensive hospital stay. Once he is released from the hospital, Carol and Mike will be required to stay in a home for transplant patients so Mike can be within a certain distance of the hospital in case there are complications with the transplant. He will also require 24/7 around-the-clock care, so Carol will have to stay with him in Cleveland this entire time. This is estimated to be 100 days total once the transplant is completed.

<div>With all of this being said, Mike and Carol do have two dogs who mean the world to them—Baby and Tucker. While they are away for this transplant, they have no other choice but to board their dogs to know they are being properly cared for, walked, fed, and exercised. So, <strong>we are asking for help to cover the cost of boarding 2 dogs for 100 days</strong>.

<div>Boarding them is unfortunately the only option. There are very few boarding places that actually take dogs for an extended period of time, and we have found a wonderful place that we know will take the absolute best care of Tucker and Baby so Carol can focus on taking care of Mike, and Mike can focus on healing. I know having Baby and Tucker in this boarding facility will take so much stress and worry off of them—they have enough of that with everything that is to come in the next several months.
